UOM conversions table

This table is used to identify conversions between valid combinations of measures. Examples include feet converted to meters, feet converted to inches, kilometers converted to miles, pieces converted to dozens, gallons converted to liters.

It is important to put conversions into the table for any item that will require conversion within the system for inventory purchase to stocking conversions, and for metrics conversion between entered values and standard values. Conversion factors may be required to identify the number of units in a particular container, to convert from imperial to metric measurements or vice versa, to convert from internal stocking storage units to a supplier's sales units.

It is also important to load this table with conversions in one direction only. An example of this is that liters to gallons may be converted; however, it is unnecessary to put gallons to liters into the table since Enrich will check for the conversion in both directions when trying to convert values. Having conversions in both directions in the table will cause errors in the data if the conversions are not exact reciprocals of each other. Since some numbers do not divide easily into 1, it is best not to enter conversions in two directions. Let Enrich handle reversing the conversion.
