Item categories table  

Separating items in inventory into categories allows the parts manager to automatically charge different expense accounts for use of parts. It is also used to separate parts into groups for purchasing. Typical item categories include tires, brakes, lights, shocks, engine, and electrical items. By entering the item category on an item, you can set Enrich up so that a purchase agent is only authorized to purchase certain categories of inventory.

  1. At the EMMS main menu, select Administration | Tables --> | Administration Tables | Material | Item Reference | Item Categories.
    • The Display Item Categories screen appears.
  2. Click Change .
    • The Edit Item Categories change screen appears.
  3. Click Add .
    • The Edit Item Categories add screen appears.
  4. Fill in the fieldsfields as required.

    Item Category Code is a 6-character code identifying a generic type of product, e.g. FLUID for fluids.

    Item Category Description is a brief description of the item category.

  5. Click Enter to save the categories.
  6. Click Change to return to the Edit Item Categories change screen.
  7. To identify component locations on equipment units that an item category might be installed on:
    1. Right-click on the category and select Locations.
      • The Edit Item Category Locations change screen appears.
    2. Click Add .
      • The Edit Item Category Locations add screen appears.
    3. Type in or select each Location Code required. This identifies a place on an equipment unit where the specified item might be installed. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the location from a list.
    4. Click Enter to save the locations.
    5. Click Exit to return to the Edit Item Categories change screen.
  8. Click Exit twice to return to the menu.
