A metric group is a set of measurements that are always performed together. Most require numeric values to be input, but some will allow text or code values, known as permissible values. Permissible values are set up after the metric group is defined.
Metric Group is a 6-character code used to identify a specific group of measurements, e.g. BRKINS for brake inspection checks.
Description is a brief description of the metric group.
Facility is the facility that uses the metric group. You can click on the Prompt button to select the facility from a list.
Department is the shop or department that uses the metric group. You can click on the Prompt button to select the department from a list.
+/- indicates the direction of change permitted when a delta factor is activated. + means the new measurement must be larger than the previous one, but it cannot change more than the delta factor. - means the new measurement must be smaller than the previous one, but it cannot change more than the delta factor. +/- or B means a change is permitted in either direction.
Delta Factor determines whether delta checking (tolerance checking) is activated for this metric type. Any non-zero value in this field means that delta checking is active, in which case a +/- indicator and a Message Type indicator are also required. When a new measurement is entered for an item or unit, the amount of change from the previous measurement is calculated if delta checking has been activated. If the amount of change does not fall within the tolerance limit described, then a message is displayed to the user -- the amount of change can be no larger than the delta factor. Delta checking is not valid for metrics with permissible values.
Mand flags whether or not this measurement must be taken before a work order that includes it can be closed when it is part of the group. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the flag from a list.
Maximum is the absolute maximum numeric value that can be entered by the technician for this type o measurement when it is part of the group. If left blank, it indicates that any values can be entered. It must be left blank if a list of permissible values is used for the measurement instead of numeric values.
Metric Type is a specific type of measurement to include in the group. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the metric type from a list.
Minimum is the absolute minimum numeric value that can be entered by the technician for this type of measurement when it is part of the group. If left blank, it indicates that any values can be entered. It must be left blank if a list of permissible values is used for the measurement instead of numeric values.
Msg Type identifies what kind of message is displayed if the amount of change does not fall within the tolerance limit defined for the metric. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the message type from a list.
