When adding new parts to inventory:

1. Check all warehouses before adding new parts.
2. The most commonly used part number is the manufacturer part number.
3. Define a procedure for removing extraneous characters: -/*, spaces, etc. This will instill consistency and gain additional part number characters (15 max).
4. VMRS and warranties go hand in hand. Utilize them to maximize after-market parts warranty.
