Customer tax exemptions  

This option can be used to make a tax code exempt for all customers in a specified province or state, for example to make GST exempt for customers in a province when the HST is implemented.

1. At the EMMS main menu, select Administration | Utilities | Customer Taxes Exemptions.
   • The Update Customer Tax Exemptions enter screen appears.
2. Fill in the fieldsfields as required.

   Province/State Code is the province or state the tax exemption will apply to. All customers with addresses in that province or state will be exempted. You can click on the Prompt button to select the province or state from a list.

   Tax Code is the tax that the exemptions will be set for. You can click on the Prompt button to select the tax from a list.

   Tax Exempt flags whether or not the tax should be set to exempt.

   Include Facility Exemptions identifies whether or not to set the customer tax exemptions for customers if the facility address is in the specified province/state.

3. Click Enter .
   • A message indicating the number of customers that are going to be updated will appear.
4. Click Yes to confirm and have the update performed.
