About cores

Cores must belong to their own item category (e.g. CORE) in order to control the GL accounts used for inventory.

At the warehouse level, a core only relates to one vendor.

Once an item has been defined as a core type, you will not be able to change it to non-core.

One core may belong to many parents.

Before a core part can be used to create a core return purchase order, it must have a vendor and a warehouse cost. When a new core part number is created, you will automatically be taken to the Edit Stocking Information change screen where you can enter that information.

Cores and parents are created as any other inventory item. Attaching and detaching them is done separately.
