Unit depreciation templates

Unit depreciation templates are used to preload the depreciation information (type and rate) on an equipment requisition. They provide a default schedule type and rate that may be used when creating depreciation schedules. The template may be set up for a specific pool or for any pool. If set up for a specific pool, the type will be used as a default when depreciation parameters are set for an equipment order for that pool. The depreciation template supports fixed or stepped rates for straight line depreciation types.

1. At the Asset Management main menu, select Equipment | Unit Depreciation | Templates. The Display Depreciation Templates screen appears.
2. Click Change . The Edit Depreciation Templates change screen appears.
3. Click Add . The Edit Depreciation Templates add screen appears.
4. Fill in the fields as required.

   Template Codeis a code identifying a unit depreciation template.

   Descriptionis a brief description of the unit depreciation template.

   Rateis the rate of depreciation. If stepped rates will be used, this field must be left blank.

   Duris the number of times the frequency will be repeated.

   Freqdefines how often the depreciation will be run, e.g. annually, monthly, quarterly. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the frequency from a list.

   Schedule Typedefines how the depreciation will be applied: by declining balance or by straight line. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the schedule type from a list.

   Poolis a specific equipment pool that will use this depreciation template. It is optional. If entered, this will default the rate and type on a requisition. If left blank, the values will not be defaulted, but a template can still be selected. You can right-click in the field and select Prompt to select the pool from a list.

5. Click Enter to save the templates.
6. If a template will have stepped rates:
   1. Click Change . The Edit Depreciation Templates change screen appears.
   2. Right-click on the template and select Change Stepped Rates. The Edit Template Stepped Rates add screen appears.
   3. Fill in the fields as required.

      Periodis a sequential number identifying the period within the duration covered by the template.

      Stepped Ratesis the depreciation rate to be applied starting in the specified period.

   4. Click Enter to save the stepped rates.
   5. Click Exit to return to the Edit Depreciation Templates change screen.
