Post an asset depreciation posting run

1. At the Asset Management main menu, select Assets / Asset Level Depreciation | Depreciation Posting. The Depreciation Posting Run Control display screen appears.
2. Right-click on the run and select Edit. The Edit Depreciation Posting change screen appears.
3. Click Post . The Confirm Depreciation Posting screen appears.
4. Click Enter. A job will be submitted to batch to perform the posting.

   The batch job will do the following:

   • Create a GL transaction header record. Source document type = depreciation entry (DE).
   • Process depreciation posting records. For each depreciation posting record, it will do the following:
   • • Create or update the GL transaction detail record with the posted amount. (Records are summarized by GL account number within the GL transaction.)
     • Update the depreciation posting record status to Posted.
     • Update the depreciation schedule record status to either Partial or Posted, depending on whether the depreciation amount matches the posted amount.
     • If the business option dictates, close the schedule if there are no unposted details remaining.
     • Create and equipment accounting transaction record for the posting amount. The record is for the unit to which the asset is assigned. The source document fields are set as follows:
     • • Source Document Type = ED (Depreciation)
       • Source Document Number = Schedule Number
       • Source Document Line = Zero
     • Create a record in the equipment/asset capital transaction cross-reference. It will set Applied Status-Postable to A (Applied) and Applied Status-Other to N (Do Not Apply).
   • Print posting run details. This report has a similar format to the unit depreciation posting report.
   • Delete any unposted records for the run. Any records that remain in an unposted status are deleted and the corresponding depreciation schedule record is set to either Partial or Not Posted.
   • Delete pool selections for the run. You have the option of building a list of pools for which depreciation is to be run.

    

   • Accounting entries are created and the depreciation schedule details are updated to reflect the posted status.
   • Control will be returned to the Depreciation Posting Run Control screen where the status of the posting job will be Posting in Progress.
   • You will get a message when the job has completed. Once the job has been completed, the status of the run will be updated to Posted. If you stayed on the posting run control screen, you can press F5 to refresh the screen and see the new status.
