Equipment order depreciation for a requisition

Note that this option is not available if asset depreciation is in use.

Depreciation schedules are maintained for equipment units and attachments to efficiently manage depreciation for the fleet. Templates can be used to preload the depreciation information (rate and type) on a requisition. Accelerated depreciation rates may be defined for excess utilization. Minor attachments that are to have no residual at the end of the term will not have a separate depreciation schedule; the depreciation of the parent unit should include a portion to represent the sum of all of these minor attachments.

1. At the Asset Management main menu, click on the Requisitions button. The Work With Equipment Requisitions display screen appears.
2. Right-click on the requisition and select Change. The Edit Order-Full Screen change screen appears.
3. If you wish to work with depreciation for another unit or attachment on the requisition, click Next until the appropriate unit or attachment appears on the screen.
4. Click Deprecn . The Equipment Order Depreciation enter screen appears.
5. To copy the depreciation schedule from a template, click Select Template . The Select Depreciation Template screen appears. This is a standard selection screen.
6. Fill in the fields as required.

   Schedule Typeidentifies what kind of depreciation schedule should be used (e.g. straight line, declining balance). You can click on the Prompt button to select the schedule type from a list.

   Depreciation Rateis the percentage that should be used to depreciate the capital amount at each depreciation period, to 2 decimal places. This must be left blank if stepped rates will be used.

   Durationis the number of months the unit will be depreciated.

   Frequencyidentifies how often the depreciation will be applied during the depreciation duration (e.g. monthly, weekly, semi-annually). You can click on the Prompt button to select the frequency from a list.

7. Click Enter to save the rates.
8. To define stepped rates for the depreciation schedule, if applicable:
   1. Leave the Depreciation Rate blank and click Stepped Rates . The Stepped Rates change screen appears.
   2. Click Add . The Stepped Rates add screen appears.
   3. Fill in the fields as required.

      Depreciation Periodis a number identifying the period during the schedule's duration when the rate changes.

      Stepped Rate %is the percentage by which the capital amount should be depreciated for the specified period and subsequent periods until the next defined change.

   4. Click Enter to save the rates.
   5. Click Exit to return to the Equipment Order Depreciation enter screen.
